Episode 15: Drill Press Table
Working in professional woodshops over the years, I have learned which features I want in my own Drill Press Table, and this one includes them all as well as a few new ideas.
The fence clamps to the edges of the table rather than using slots in the table to improve the setting and locking, the throat plate has been positioned to improve usability and require less frequent replacement, and there is an innovative vertical face that allows for drilling into tall parts without needing to disturb the set up of the cast iron table.
The table is easy to build in most shops and does not cost a lot to make. The plans include measured drawings for a floor model drill press as well as a 16” model, and instructions are included to help adapt the measurements for any size machine.
