About Woodcademy TV

Woodcademy TV is a unique woodworking broadcast program here on our website. It is specifically designed to help you “Build Your Skills” once you have mastered the basics. Host Ralph Bagnall designs each project and creates companion plans, complete with step-by step instructions, full-color pictures, measured drawings and a project cut list, that are available free for download by viewers.  Longer projects may be divided into two episodes; each project is designed to teach one or more woodworking techniques that woodworkers can apply to the project at hand or carry over into their own woodworking projects.

Woodcademy TV Season 1 was a great hit! Thank you to all our viewers for making our premiere season absolutely wonderful!

We began Season 1 with a breakfast tray designed after a bed tray featured in the hit BBC/PBS series, Downton Abbey. Our second project, a lovely library stand, taught viewers a number of techniques, including wood bending. Next, we built a set of mission-style dining chairs complete with bent backs and half-laps and showed you how to upholster the seats. Our final project in Season 1 was a beautiful and functional butterfly leaf table complete with a mechanism that folds the table leaf and stores it below the table top.

Each project in Season 1 comes has free plans with it that you can use to follow along with the show and make your own woodworking projects! Each set of plans comes complete with instructions, full-color photos, measured drawings and a cut list.

Our first project in this season, featured in Episodes 1 and 2, is a shop-built router table that folds quickly and easily for transport or storage. This wood shop cabinet is a must-have for craftsmen in the field, woodworkers with limited shop space or hobbyists woodworking at home or in the garage.

Other projects featured in Season 2 include a backgammon set build, upgrades for your miter gauge, a dressing mirror with a tilting center mirror and two side mirrors that fold away and steamship deck chair build.

Remember to download the free plans that accompany each episode and make these splendid projects for your home or shop!
